Whole Leaf Tea Storage – Keep it fresher longer!

The good news is that whole tea leaves can last up to two years – under optimal circumstances. Generally, by the time you bring home tea, it has been around for six to eight months. Hence, your best bet is to buy enough tea to enjoy for about seven to nine months. This method will save on shipping costs and keep you well within the "freshness window".

Similar to coffee beans, the enemy of tea is exposure to light and air. This is why you see so many types of gourmet tea packaged in tins rather than glass jars. Mighty Leaf Tea takes freshness very seriously – they seal their famous Tea Pouches in foil or cello wrappers to eliminate contact with the air.

Be sure to store your tea in a cool, dry place – not next to the stove. Also, do not store your tea in the refrigerator; moisture is another adversary to the fresh taste of whole leaf tea. Lastly, keep tea away from your spice rack and the general cooking area as it may absorb the flavors / odors of your daily cooking – and certainly do not store it near or right above your onion bin!

Quality whole leaf tea has many health benefits. It can provide relaxation, a sound night's rest, and the perfect compliment to an enjoyable visit with a friend, a good book, or a comfy chair. Simply store it properly and it will stay fresher – longer!
